backtalk:    taking on that rumor

Same day, same girl, different poses.

Myth:  Pictures don't lie. She looks bigger in different pictures.
Fact:  As the above pictures bear out, the same girl can look "bigger" or "smaller" depending on the pose.

Pictures don't lie, but graphics editors do.

In the picture on the left, Britney, at her heaviest, looks like an average girl with an average body at a healthy weight. In the picture on the right, it looks as if someone retouched the photo by eliminating some of Britney's back, which makes her waist look tiny and her bust look much bigger than it really is.

In the upcoming June issue of Allure magazine, Britney continues to deny the rumor that she has had breast implants, but admits to the magazine that she used "breast enhancers" for the "Oops! I did it again" video. "They started falling down, and I was completely humiliated! We ended up having to sew them in."

British GQ magazine devotes two paragraphs to the implants rumor, offering this analysis:

Some things are bound to get her attention, such as the story about the supposed breast implants, which was mishandled by her people in a way that would have done the old Buckingham Palace press office proud. Britney's spokesperson first of all issued a "no comment" response when bosom watchers noticed her improved upholstery in the second video, and rumours started that her absence for a knee operation actually involved surgical intervention a little higher up the body.

Then Britney issued a statement saying she saw nothing wrong with plastic surgery, causing outrage at the thought of a less-than-fully-grown woman having implants and the possibility of a rash of pubescent coycats, before finally, rather belatedly, she denied it, putting the healthier circumference down to a natural growth spurt. What does she say about it now? "It's another one of those tings I am supposed to have done that just isn't true. It is a very personal thing to have to discuss. It's embarrassing."

Please note, however, that the same British GQ magazine opted to pencil in cleavage on Britney's chest on the magazine cover!

Implants...? Um, like, where...?

more brit quotes on the subject

From British Cosmopolitan:

"When I was signed to my record label, I was fifteen. I'm eighteen now. My body has changed. There's nothing wrong with plastic surgery if it makes you happy, but personally, I'd never do it. It upsets me that people have written that about me. My fans might hate me if they think I've had implants. Or they might go out and have it done themselves. I don't like the thought of that at all. People have decided that's what I've done. It makes me mad."
From Cosmo Girl:

"It's stupid! I mean (She cups her breasts in her hands), it doesn't look like I have fake boobs, does it? But, whatever. I'm used to it. Are they real or not? I mean, of course they're real. "
